Tait at Melbourne Design Week

During the month of March, Tait were pleased to open their Melbourne showroom doors to participate in DEN FAIR Design Loop & Open State over the course of Melbourne Design Week, (presented by NGV). Igniting the design-devoted city, the Melbourne Design Week 2018 program saw scores of visitors across the ten days, from speaker series with influential design figures such as Marcus Fairs from Dezeen, to exhibitions by leading international design houses Kvadrat Maharam & Marimekko.

Curated by the team at DEN FAIR, the first ever DEN FAIR Design Loop saw 17 of Melbourne’s leading design showrooms offer installations and talks to the theme ‘Celebration of Material’. Showcasing our installation ‘CUT. FOLD. JOIN. SEAM’, Tait offered a visual journey of the design and manufacturing process for our brand-new Seam chair (designed by Melbourne-local, Adam Cornish). Offering rare, firsthand insight into the Tait design and manufacturing methodology, visitors to the installation were able to experience the entire process from initial paper modelling through to refining prototypes. Meanwhile in Melbourne were on the ground capturing all of the action, you can read her DEN FAIR Design Loop lookback here.

Once again taking part in the annual Open House Melbourne initiative, Open State, Tait offered guests the opportunity to attend a series of showroom talks and demonstrations with Tait Founding Director, Gordon Tait, and Seam collection designer, Adam Cornish. The insightful discussions led guests on a journey from how Tait and Cornish began to work together on the Seam collection, through to a fascinating Seam chair welding demonstration by Tait’s Head of Manufacturing, Michael Dwyer.
