’30 Years of Tait’ Exhibition

Melbourne Design Week 2023
As part of the Melbourne Design Week program, we're proud to present '30 Years of Tait' a retrospective exhibition curated by Marsha Golemac.

A retrospective exhibition that inspires interaction and curiosity, join us to celebrate the rich history of Tait and our team of Australian designers and craftspeople. From the hammer to the robot, this 30-year activation explores early works, insights, unexpected paths, and the sustainable future of Tait. Our 30 Years of Tait exhibition will also coincide with the launch of our new collection.

Outdoor furniture in Australia by nature faces the harshest of conditions, with each piece requiring an unwavering dedication to deliver functional benefits that withstand the environment, while presenting as a calm and inviting focus point to be welcomed into the most intimate of personal spaces.

Such is the story of Tait, an Australia-born contemporary outdoor furniture design company that has weathered 30 years in the industry to emerge as an advocate for design, high performance and craftsmanship.

From the hammer to the robot, the exhibition invites visitors to explore Tait’s early works, insights, unexpected paths, and the future of the company, coinciding with the launch of a new collection.

The ’30 Years of Tait’ Exhibition opens from 18 – 28 May at Tait’s Melbourne showroom supported by Melbourne Design Week 2023.

Tait is honoured to also partner with Agency Projects and Numbulwar Numburindi Arts (NNA) during Melbourne Design Week to present an advocacy project to the art and design community, which connects Indigenous artists working with the contamination of ghost nets and other ocean debris across Northern Australia. Ghost nets, or ‘fish killers’ as they are known in Numbulwar, are discarded from commercial fishing vessels and travel thousands of kilometres through the ocean, harming vulnerable marine life and coral.

The ‘Numbulwar Pop-up Studio and Exhibition’ opens from 18 – 28 May at Tait’s Melbourne showroom supported by Melbourne Design Week 2023.
