Launching Correa

A Life Outside is better together, and our latest collection pays tribute to gathering in a warm and social spirit. Comprising a circular Table, Chair, Lounger and Rocker, Correa comes in a range of colours and material combinations – and is purpose-designed for refurbishing.

Welcome to shared mornings, afternoons and nights at the round table.

Gather round

For the first time in many years, we are presenting a feature round table, the hero of the Correa Collection. ‘We wanted the base to be an interesting shape,’ shares Founding Director Gordon Tait, ‘so we designed it to be more organic in form’. Requiring special metal spinning tooling to craft, the base’s gently bulbous form echoes the soft bell-shaped curves of the Correa flower, also known as the Native Fuchsia. Like the flower, the collection is both beautiful and tough, thriving in challenging conditions across Australia.

Designed by Tait Design Studio, the Correa Table can be crafted with a central cavity to hold an ice bucket or planter. When not in use, the cavity is covered elegantly by a matching insert with a discreet finger hole detail. A smaller hole can also be carved out, to insert an umbrella. The collection’s launch coincides with that of the new Turntable, a ‘Lazy Susan’-style rotating server, which adds another dynamic dimension to the art of sharing.

With these centrepiece options, the Correa Table becomes an anchor for a range of social activities that can be enjoyed in the great outdoors. Available in three diameters (1200mm, 1400mm and 1600mm), as well as a 2400x1200mm pill shape, Correa’s elegant top comes in powder coated aluminium to create a seamless whole with the base, or in cement-finish, travertine or marbled porcelain for a contrasting, luxurious aesthetic.

Seating - take your pick

Providing accompanying seating, the Correa Chair is a cantilever style inspired by 1920s Bauhaus era innovation. A single continuous piece of metal formed by a Japanese tube bender comprises the frame. Further celebrating the modernist vision, a complex ‘sprung’ tension is enabled through a double cantilever system where seat and backrest flex independently, creating advanced comfort and ergonomics. In addition to the Correa Chair, which is at a standard dining height (450mm), the collection also includes the Correa Lounger and Correa Rocker. These models have a lower seat height (395mm) and wider proportions for a more relaxed arrangement, with the latter featuring a curved base that enables a gentle rocking motion. All seating is available in full metal as a durable choice for hardworking outdoor areas. Stainless steel frames and aluminium panels can be powder coated in the same, or contrasting, colours for a two-tone effect.

Upholstered variations

Alternatively, all chairs can be selected with upholstered seat and back pads, which are fixed with concealed weld studs to maintain the seamless, elegant aesthetic. Whilst any approved high-performance fabric or vinyl can be used, the new Knoll ‘Pathway’ design from Maharam is the featured fabric for the range. ‘It offers a fine, textured weave and is speckled with beautiful earthy tones, which perfectly complements our powder coat colours,’ shares Creative Director Susan Tait. ‘The handmade appearance of the fabric brings a softness to the seat and back panels, which would work indoors and out,’ she continues.
