Our EPD journey is underway

Whilst our products and operations have always been developed with sustainability in mind, we recognise the importance of continually improving and demonstrating our progress. That’s why in 2025 we’re embarking on our own certification journey, to provide independent assurance for industry specification.

A sustainable heart

Like a human body, our business is sustainable by design – something we’ve chosen to integrate throughout our mission and operations. We make our outdoor furniture to order with a lean manufacturing methodology, only using the materials we need. We use premium, fit-for-purpose materials to ensure longevity in the market. And all products are designed for refurbishing, extending their lifespan, their usefulness and value.

But it’s one thing to say we’re sustainable, and another to demonstrate it.

The journey to the start line

As part of the furniture design and manufacture industry, we operate in a space unfortunately rife with greenwashing. So we understand why it’s important for our sustainable claims to be substantiated by credible 3rd parties and bodies. We’ve explored different frameworks over recent years, and have even started the process several times – only to lose conviction and momentum. Recently, we underwent a sustainability audit with respected consultants Hip V. Hype, with certification as a goal to work towards. We’re happy to announce that after reviewing the certification landscape, Hip V. Hype’s recommendations, and industry feedback, we have decided on a way forward.

The path forward – EPDs

Whilst still in progress, we can share that we’re working with leading environment and corporate sustainability experts at thinkstep-anz to develop Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). These are based on data from a detailed environmental study called a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), telling the environmental story of a product over its life cycle in a clear, simple format that is science-based, independently verified and publicly available.

“For manufacturers, EPDs provide a trusted, transparent way to communicate the life-cycle environmental performance of products. They support credibility in sustainability claims, differentiate your products, enable product comparisons on a level playing field, and align with procurement requirements in global supply chains. In short, EPDs help manufacturers turn environmental performance into a competitive asset,” says thinkstep-anz’s Technical Director Jeff Vickers. “It’s fantastic to be partnering with an Australian furniture company, as there are still only a handful of furniture manufacturers in this region with EPDs. We’re especially excited to support a local business that is creating high-quality, durable products designed to be loved and to last.”

The process is underway and we expect to publish our EPDs from mid-2026. Chat to us if you’d like to know more (or request our official Letter of Engagement to firm up future specifications), and sign up to our Commercial Newsletter for updates.
