Voom Collection receives Highly Commended Award at IDEA 2023

Award News - Voom Collection highly commended and Adam Goodrum awarded the Gold Medal at the 2023 Interior Design Excellence Awards (IDEA)
The 2023 Interior Design Excellence Awards was full of innovative design and talent last night, with our Voom Collection Highly Commended in the 'Object, Furniture, Lighting – Professional' category. To be acknowledged is always a huge honour, recognising the work of our entire team to bring the Voom Collection to life. Huge congratulations to Tait designer, Ross Gardam for winning the category with his innovative Volant chandelier, a modern chandelier that's akin to a kinetic sculpture, also made in Melbourne.

Congratulations also to Tait designer, Adam Goodrum, on his Gold Medal win! As one of Australia’s leading industrial designers, Adam Goodrum is world-renowned for his design innovation and distinct Australian aesthetic. Focusing on furniture and product, Goodrum delivers progressively original, intelligent and award-winning collections, highly regarded for commercial and retail applications. The Gold Medal was a well-deserved honour for Adam Goodrum to receive on the night.

Working with Tait, Goodrum has designed the iconic Volley, Scape and Trace collections, the Element fire pit, the new Swing chair and our recently released Voom collection. Soft curves, opposing textures and a hint of Australian nostalgia emerge as subtle considerations with our Voom Collection. Unique both in design and materials, Voom has been created to withstand harsh Australian conditions indoors and out with groupings of loungers and ottomans creating new sofa and sunlounge forms.

Goodrum’s output in Australia and internationally is prolific, introducing a subtle Australian aesthetic to the world. He designs with the philosophy that an object must justify its existence – through its story and detailing and for this reason, his designs celebrate process and craftsmanship and accentuate components and joinery to create functional pieces with spirit and personality,

His work has also been included in exhibitions and collections at Powerhouse / MAAS, Art Gallery WA, NGV, NGA, London Design Museum and the Gent Design Museum, Belgium. Goodrum has also recently been inducted into the Design Institute of Australia’s Hall of Fame. Find out more HERE.

We would also like to acknowledge Tait’s very own Carl Broesen, whose innovative designs including Loom Lounge, Salt & Pepper and Ballasture were shortlisted in the ‘Object, Furniture & Lighting – Rising’ category.
