Learning & Inspiration for A Life Outside

There’s an exciting 10 days of outdoor exhibitions, displays, talks and workshops coming up in Melbourne in March. Dip into lush green experiences at the Outlandish Landscape Conference and Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show.

Outlandish Australian Landscape Conference

Outlandish includes a 2-day conference garden tours and workshops, and a stellar panel of international presenters. The Conference will be held 20–22 March at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Attendees can expect ‘thought-provoking original ideas and compelling personalities,’ says Outlander’s Director, Fleur Flanery. This year’s theme is ‘Ways of Seeing, Ways of Being’, borrowed from John Berger’s 1972 work of art criticism advocating for contextual thinking.

The Outlandish team extends this idea to lay as the event foundation the urgent ecological context we all live within. The conference’s renowned speakers explore and react to this context in distinctive ways, whether to inspire, console or delight.

Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show

Hot on the heels is the annual MIFGS, amongst the backdrop of the beautiful Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens.

Each year there’s an abundance of floral displays, landscape designs and innovative garden concepts. This veritable feast for the senses offers five whole days of delight, from Wednesday 26–Sunday 30 March.

This year we’re excited to be involved in the Elemental Garden display by Joel Emmins of Complete Landscape Solutions. Exploring how forces of nature shape the built environment, the installation integrates the elements through the design and plantings.

Our Jak Chairs will be placed around the firepit, the central gathering point. As Joel describes, ‘Its flickering flames invite people to share stories, relax, and experience the comforting glow of fire, a symbol of life and energy.’

We can’t wait to see our Jak Chairs in this evocative setting.
