A life outside, in Byron Bay

With a passion for the outdoors, Tait is happy to be popping-up on the sun-drenched shores of Byron Bay. The warmer months are on our doorstep, so we’ve booked an extended spring fling in Byron Bay. Our 6-month pop-up opens at 10/18 Banksia Drive on Wednesday 2 October.

For more than 30 years, we have been designing and manufacturing outdoor furniture crafted to perform in the Australian elements; ideal for Byron’s salty and humid coastal environment.

From October, Byron locals can peruse the Tait range at our Banksia Drive pop-up. Each Tait product is made-to-order – so customers can select from the vast range of finishes and fabrics, which are then manufactured and shipped from our Melbourne factory.

‘When the opening [for the pop-up] came up, it sounded like the perfect opportunity,’ says Founding Director Gordon Tait. ‘We’re all about a laidback lifestyle, sustainable materials, Australian culture and A Life Outside – values that are communally celebrated across the Byron region’.

An icon of relaxed Australian living, Byron Bay is renowned for its community that celebrates sustainable values – from materials and making, to self-sufficient living. Tait also champions this ethos as a proudly Australian-owned family business. Long before it was a business imperative, Tait embedded sustainability throughout its products and processes through responsible material choices and manufacturing techniques.

Every Tait product comes with a 5-year warranty, proving the range will perform on poolside decks and withstand an abrasive sea breeze. Tait also offers a refurbishment service, enabling customers to care for, update and share their pieces for generations to come.

We look forward to being part of a dynamic community of Australian makers and wellness services (including Jardan, Comma, Fliteboard and Fearon) that makes up the vibrant Banksia Drive design precinct in the Byron Bay Arts & Industry Estate. From fashion to surfboard shaping, floral design and furniture, Banksia Drive — an initiative of local developers Norfolk — celebrates the spirit of creativity, innovation and connection.
